Custom Residential, Pacific Northwest

Homes worth handing down.

Strudel is a residential builder shaping custom homes, additions, and restorations across the high desert and Cascade foothills. We frame honestly, finish patiently, and treat every joint as if a grandchild will inherit it.

Disciplines

Four things,
done without compromise.

We deliberately keep a short list. Every Strudel project runs through the same crew, the same suppliers, and the same obsessive standard of joinery. If it is not on this page, we likely know the person who should be building it for you.

  1. 01

    Custom Homes

Ground-up residential builds tailored to your site, your light, and the way you actually live. Timberframe, stick-frame, or hybrid construction.

    • Architectural collaboration
    • Energy-modeled envelopes
    • Full project management
  2. 02

    Additions & Wings

Adding to a home you love without losing what made you love it. We match line, scale, and material so new and old read as one.

    • Structural integration
    • Roofline matching
    • Period-correct detail
  3. 03

    Restorations

Bringing legacy homes and cabins back to soundness. We document, salvage, and rebuild with materials that age the way the originals did.

    • Historic structures
    • Hand-hewn timber
    • Reclaimed millwork
  4. 04

    Outbuildings

Shops, studios, guest barns, and off-grid retreats. Smaller buildings built to the same standard as the main house.

    • Off-grid systems
    • Insulated workshops
    • Heated ADUs

Approach

Four movements,
one quiet rhythm.

Most of what makes a home worth living in is decided in the first few weeks and the last few weeks. We give those weeks the time they deserve.

A note from Mason Strudel Founder, Lead Builder
  1. I

    Sit on the site

Before drawings, before bids. We walk the parcel in different weather, watch the sun arc, listen to the wind, find where the house already wants to be.

  2. II

    Draw and price together

Architecture and budget are the same conversation, not sequential ones. You see real numbers against real choices, before commitments harden.

  3. III

    Build slow on purpose

One project at a time, one crew per project. The same hands that frame your house finish your trim. Schedules stretch a little. Quality stretches a lot.

  4. IV

    Hand it off honestly

A walkthrough that hides nothing. A binder with every spec, every supplier, every warranty. We stay close for a year, then forever as friends.

Words from the families

The only review
that matters is the one
given in  year ten.

We interviewed six builders. Strudel was the only one who asked us what we'd want the house to feel like at six in the morning, fifteen years from now. That question became the house.
Hannah & Reid Calloway Black Butte Ridge, 2025
Mason's crew framed our addition so cleanly you genuinely cannot tell where the 1947 cabin ends and the new wing begins. Six years on, not a single creak. Not one.
Daniel Wren Camp Sherman Lodge, 2023
They built slower than we expected and we are deeply grateful. The patience shows up in every shadow line, every door swing, every place the trim meets the floor.
The Okafor Family Awbrey Butte Modern, 2024
